Video: BMW Alpina B6 GT3 Flies Over Safety Barriers and Crashes Onto Concrete Wall


The spectators at last weekend’s ADAC GT Masters championship at the Nürburgring witnessed a horrific crash involving Alex Plenagl and his BMW Alpina B6 GT3 racecar when the driver lost control of the vehicle and strayed off the course at a high speed.

Plenagl’s Alpina flew over the safety barriers, passed through a BMW sign and crashed onto the concrete wall.

SCOOP: 2012 BMW M6 Spied in Convertible Trim


The engineering teams over at the BMW Group have their hands full these days as they rush to complete testing of a number of future vehicles.

These include but are not limited to, MINI’s Roadster and BMW’s i3 hatch, i8 hybrid sports car, M6 Coupe, the next generation 3-Series sedan and GT liftback, the 7-Series facelift, the four-door 6-Series GT which we showed you earlier today, and case in point, the convertible version of the M6.

As with the 2012 M6 Coupe, BMW is slowly stripping away the disguise from the rag-top model which will feature the same M Division-tuned drivetrain found in the latest M5 sports sedan.

New BMW 6-Series Four-Door GT Spied in Black


Here are some fresh spy shots of BMW’s new Mercedes CLS and Audi A7 Sportback adversary, the four-door version of the latest 6-Series, which was spotted testing in Europe.

The third iteration of the 6-Series after the two-door Coupe and Convertible models will most likely be called the 6-Series GT or the 6-Series Gran Coupé and will reach showrooms in the first half of 2012. BMW believes the four door model will overshadow the rest of the range and predicts that it will account for around half of all 6-Series sales.

BMW Updates New 6-Series with M Sport, Diesel and xDrive Variants


BMW is wasting no time in enhancing the range of its recently launched 6-Series Coupé and Convertible models. To sum up the changes, from this autumn (and depending on the market, of course) both body styles will be available with an M Sport package, a new diesel engine and for the first time in the 6-Series model’s history, the Bavarian firm’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

Starting with the M Sport option, the package includes an M aerodynamics kit with bespoke front and rear bumpers, LED foglamps, 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design, sports seats with Alcantara/leather upholstery and an M leather steering wheel.

Hamann Details Tuning Program for New BMW 6-Series Convertible, More to Come in Frankfurt


Earlier this year, BMW tuning specialist Hamann Motorsport teased its tuning program for the freshly launched 6-Series Convertible with the release of the first photos of the car.

Today, the German company gave out information on its initial offerings for the soft-top 6-Series and announced that it will unveil a more aggressive tune at the upcoming 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

Prior Design Teases New Tuning Package for 2012 BMW 6-Series Coupe and Convertible


Given that the first examples of BMW’s new 6-Series Convertible will begin arriving in dealerships this spring followed by the Coupe model in the fall, it doesn't come to much of a surprise that tuners have started working on their packages for the Bavarian GT. Hamann Motorsports Accessorizes New BMW 6-Series


Life goes on for Hamann Motorsports after the death of its founder last week as the German tuning house has introduced its first set of accessories for the new BMW 6-Series Coupe and Convertible models. Hamann did not accompany the photos with a press release so we’re still short on details, but the pictures reveal several new alloy wheel designs as well as a new four-pipe exhaust system. For the past few months, we’ve been hearing various rumors about BMW’s future plans, but today, the German automaker came out with official details at a press conference in Munich starting with the debut of a plug-in hybrid version of the China market 5-Series at next month’s Shanghai Auto Show.

“A highlight at the Shanghai Motor Show in mid-April will be the presentation of our New Energy Vehicle, said BMW Chief Executive Dr. Norbert Reithofer. “This model will be our e-car from China for China – a long version of the BMW 5 Series as a plug-in hybrid. This car will benefit from the strength and the excellent reputation of the BMW brand.”

Reithofer confirmed the presentation of the production version of the MINI Coupe, first seen as a concept model at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the second generation of the BMW 1 Series, both of which will be launched this year alongside the new M5 sports saloon and the 6-Series models.
