Tokyo japan,Toyota motor corporation Dow Jose said Friday that it will begin recalling 270,000 vehicles from worldwide to fix an engine problem.
The company will inform Japan's transport ministry on Monday that it intends to recall 90,000 vehicles in Japan, a Toyota spokeswoman said. That will be followed by a recall of 137,000 vehicles in the U.S., with the remaining vehicles to be recalled in other regions, she added.

Further details, such as which other regions are affected, will be disclosed from Monday, the spokeswoman said.

The world's biggest car maker by volume said Thursday that it was preparing to recall some Lexus LS460, Lexus LS600h, Lexus LS600hL, Lexus GS350, Lexus GS450h, Lexus GS460 and Lexus IS350 and Toyota Crown models to fix a problem with the valve spring of 4.6 liter V8 and 3.5 liter V6 engines used in those vehicles.

But on Thursday, the company said it wasn't clear when it would begin the recall.

The car maker is trying to bolster its quality control measures after it was hit by a global recall of more than 8.5 million vehicles earlier this year, which led to the company paying a $16.4 million fine in the U.S.
