Beautiful

The first of three 350z’s I had the pleasure of taking a few pictures this past weekend. Is the famous evilZ straight from an awesome Aussie. If you haven’t seen this beautiful piece of machinery before, you must have been sleeping under a rock for the past few years.

I first got my eyes on this car in person round 5:30 in the morning before we headed to IA Saturday. Instantly I was hooked and knew I needed to pull Mick aside and ask to take some quick pictures.

Luckily I was able to do just that. In all honesty no picture does this car justice its just so d*amn beautiful. This Z has just so many amazing things about it and the most epic thing is the sound it makes from the back pressure of the exhaust after the turbos wind down.

It was just an amazing thing to hear the turbo’s spool up then he would let off and hear the cracking of the exhaust. But besides an amazing car Mick Harris was an awesome guy to get to talk to.

So if you see him don’t be intimidated by how big Mick is, just go talk to him about his build that is not even close to being done.

Modern Art Monday: The Super Edition

The Art of Auto car show this past weekend featured literally millions of dollars of high end new cars on display out in front of the New-Journal convention center.  I thought my fellow Hoons might enjoy viewing a few of the super coupes I enjoyed seeing on Saturday but making the jump is necessary to do so.

Now this olelongrooffan is not the biggest fan of super cars, after all the roof isn’t long enough on these, but I sure enjoy looking at them and just plain ole wondering how the hell anyone can afford these things.

My Rolex24 buddy, RJ, who proudly states that none of his cars have backseats, is in the market for a GT3 and he struck up a conversation with one of the sales dudes while this olelongrooffan gathered up some of these images.

Lamborghini of Orlando brought a bunch of stuff up for my viewing pleasure and there were a few privately owned vehicles also in attendance.

I thought this bright orange Lambo was over the top, IMHO.

There were several Ferraris and Aston Martins floating around also.

And while this olelongrooffan isn’t really a big fan of these, I would not turn down.

the gift of either one of these ragtops.

Having said that however, this red Mercedes with the red top was a little too much. Now there were a bunch of nice new cars there but.

One-Off Pininfarina Hyperion Found for Sale in Abu Dhabi Dealership

As impossible as it may seem for us mere mortals, even one-off special creations can quickly become mundane for extremely wealthy individuals.

Rolls-Royce collector Roland Hall from Britain, custom ordered the Hyperion from Pininfarina back in 2008 only to put the car up for sale a year later for €4.5 million (roughly US$6 million at today's exchange rates).

We're not aware if the car was actually sold at the time, but we re-discovered the Rolls Royce Hyperion listed for sale for an undisclosed price at an Abu Dhabi dealership.

Named after Hyperion, one of the Titans of Greek mythology, the convertible model was designed by Jason Castriota of former Saab fame and built by the Special Projects division of Pininfarina.

It is based on the running gear of the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe with power coming from the British model's 6.75-liter V12 engine.

Among other changes, the rear seats were removed and the driving position was pushed back 400mm back. With the exception of the doors that were crafted out of solid wood, the rest of the body is made of carbon fiber.

Scoop: 2014 Infiniti G Series Test Mule Spotted Going in and out of Mercedes Facility

A test mule of the next generation of Infiniti's highest volume line, the G series, was nabbed by our spy photographers taking a rest at a parking lot in Northern Europe.

While these pictures don't tell us much about the new G sedan other than that it will have wider front and rear tracks, the fact that our photographers told us that the prototype was seen going in and out of a known Mercedes test facility, proves that the cooperation between Daimler and the Renault-Nissan Alliance is in full swing.

It is possible that one of the test mules is wearing one of Mercedes-Benz' diesel engines as this is something the two companies have already confirmed.

We still don't know if Infiniti will continue the development of its famed VQ series of V6 engines or if the company will take a look at the Mercedes-Benz's parts bin for a new six-cylinder gasoline unit.

As for the design, we can only speculate, but if you look at Infiniti's new production JX crossover and its recent concept models like the LE compact sedan and the Emerg-E, you will find some clues to as what styling elements will be used on the sedan such as the creased beltline and the pinched front grille.
